Women With a Vision, Inc. staff will be attending the New Leadership Networking Initiative (NLNI) fall meeting, which will be held in New Orleans November 19-20, 2014. Now in its 15th year, NLNI has acted as a forum for bringing together a diverse group of people engaged in reproductive justice work from a variety of organizations across the country.
During the meeting, WWAV’s Policy and Communications Director Desiree Evans will present on a panel called “Criminalization & Policing in Our Communities,” alongside Monica Simpson from SisterSong, Charlene Carruthers from the Black Youth Project/BYP100, and Shana Griffin, a member of INCITE! Color of Violence and the Board President of Women With a Vision. Desiree will highlight the work WWAV has done in response to criminalization and policing in communities of color here in New Orleans and discuss the relevancy of this work to the reproductive justice movement.
