September 24th – Miss Representation Screening and Discussion

On Tuesday, September 24th, 2013, WWAV’s Executive Director, Deon Haywood, will be joining Advocate and Gambit reporter Stephanie Grace, radio personality and host with 106.7, Kelder Summers, and New Orleans City Council, Latoya Cantrell, for a screening and discussion of Miss Representation, a film exploring how the media’s misrepresentations of women has led to the under representation of women in positions of power and influence.

Miss Representation Screening and Discussion 

Tuesday, September 24, 2013
6:30pm until 10:00pm in CDT
Freeman Auditorium, Woldenberg Art Center, 1229 Broadway Avenue, New Orleans
Greater New Orleans NOW and Forum For Equality present, in association with Newcomb College Institute, Independent Women’s Organization, the AAUW Greater New Orleans’ Branch and HRC Louisiana, a screening and discussion of Miss Representation.
The film explores how the media’s misrepresentations of women has led to the under representation of women in positions of power and influence.
Following the film will be a discussion with women leaders in the community who will speak on their experiences as well as ways to help nurture future women leaders.

Iman Shervington, Director of Media and Social Marketing for the Institute of Women and Ethnic Studies
Panelists:
Stephanie Grace, reporter with the Advocate and Gambit
Deon Haywood, Executive Director with Women With a Vision
