September 16th: Celebrate Global Female Condom Day!

20140814-gfcd_transparent_logo-300x266Today, September 16th, 2014, marks the third annual Global Female Condom Day – a day of education and advocacy dedicated to female condoms. Last year, thousands of individuals and nearly 250 organizations from 54 countries participated, demanding greater access to the female condom, an important and dynamic tool that can fight the spread of HIV, STIs, and aid in family planning.
Here at Women With a Vision we know that female condoms are powerful tools for pleasure and prevention. Yet, many people in our community do not know about them or cannot access them. Advocacy and education are critical to build awareness and support for the female condom, which is the only HIV, sexually transmitted infection (STI), and pregnancy-prevention option that is woman-initiated and currently available on the market. It offers people of any gender who engage in receptive sex a way to take greater control of their health.
femalecondom-980x420If you’re curious to learn more about female condoms and how they work, set up a time to stop by WWAV’s office and talk to us! We can set up a time for a sexual health advocate to talk to you more about female condoms, and any other sexual and reproductive health issue you have questions about.
WWAV is also available to offer sexual health education and presentations to you or any groups you work with. Just call us at: 504.301.0428!
