The Louisiana Center for Health Equity is hosting it’s 3rd annual Women’s Retreat/Women’s Health Day on May 15th to coincide with National Women’s Health Week, along with Louisiana Senator Sharon Weston Broome, and in collaboration with the Louisiana Legislative Women’s Caucus Foundation. The event will run all day at the State Capitol and the Capitol Park Welcome Center in Baton Rouge.
The key issues covered during the day include: 1) access to healthcare, specifically, extending health coverage to the uninsured with Medicaid expansion, and 2) HIV/AIDS, as these are issues that significantly impact women, especially women of color in Louisiana.
Women With a Vision will be tabling at the event and speaking on a panel from 11:00am to 12 noon on the HIV/AIDS crisis in Louisiana. The panel will be held at the Park Welcome Center as part of the day’s celebration.
