This summer, Desiree Evans joined Women With a Vision as our Education and Outreach Director.
Born and raised in southwest Louisiana, Desiree is daily inspired by the work and the history of Women With a Vision in New Orleans, and comes to her role here with a desire to elevate community voices, to change punitive policies, and to fight for the health, livelihoods, and collective power of women of color in the South.
Over the past fourteen years she has worked for a number of non-profits and advocacy organizations as a journalist, researcher, policy advocate, and activist. Much of Desiree’s organizing work has centered around movements for racial, economic, and gender justice.
Desiree holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Northwestern University and a Master’s degree in International Affairs from Columbia University.
