For 23 years, Women With a Vision has been standing with the women of New Orleans. We have been let into worlds that few others see, and trusted with stories that few others hear. We have also been guided by the truth that for change to be real it must emerge from the community.
Using that grassroots framework has enabled us to do what some said would be impossible to do, working every day to transform the policies that would erase entire communities, and hinder the health and well-being of low-income women across New Orleans.
You can read more about our work in this month’s New Yorker, where journalist Sarah Stillman explores HIV in the U.S. South and the ways Women With a Vision is working to fight the epidemic.
